- A szlovákosítás az az asszimiláló folyamat, amely során a Szlovákiában élő nem-szlovák nemzetiségek kénytelenek feladni kultúrájukat és nyelvüket a szlovák kultúra és nyelv javára. A folyamat elsősorban megfélemlítések és zaklatások következménye, esetleg az ettől való félelemből is eredhet. A múltban a folyamatot a kisebbségi jogok korlátozásával, figyelmen kívül hagyásával és a második világháborút követő etnikai tisztogatásokkal is gyorsították, de az utóbbi évtizedekben főként a kisebbségellenes rendelkezésekre és gyűlöletbeszédekre korlátozódott. A folyamat Szlovákiában történik, ahol a szlovák nemzet abszolút többségben van. A szlovákosításról elsősorban a magyarokkal kapcsolatban beszélhetünk, de érinti a német, ukrán, ruszin, lengyel és zsidó kisebbségeket is. A cigány kisebbség elsősorban nyelvcserével (cigányról, magyarról) hasonul a szlováksághoz, hiszen a közép-európai posztkomunista társadalmak különböző okokból máig kirekesztőek a cigánysággal, mint népcsoporttal szemben.
